Chapter Five

Work no longer interested James. In fact, he was thinking about leaving town for an extended period of time. After a jog through Eden Park, James checked the messages on his machine. He had several waiting for him waiting for him when he got home to his crappy little apartment. The first was from Rask, checking in on how he was doing. He never imagined that he and Rask would become friends the way they had but they did. The next was from his contact in Internal Affairs. He was getting his next assignment. As usual, everything would be e-mailed to him. The third was from Layton and his heart stopped.

“Jim. I didn’t want you to leave the way you had. I’m not very good at expressing my feelings.” He sighed heavily as emotion played through his Dom’s voice. “I just want to take this thing slow for both of us. I don’t want either one of us to get hurt. Call me. I want to see you tonight.”

Tears misted James’s eyes as he went upstairs to shower off all the sweat and anger that his run had brought out inside of him. He turned on the hot water and got inside the shower. He had fallen in love with Layton. He was stupid for doing so, but there was nothing he could do to take it back now. Despite his run and frustration, James’s cock was rock hard and waving like a flag on a flagpole from the water hitting it. James pressed his palms against the cold tile. He found Layton’s cell number. He picked up the phone and dialed Layton’s cell. It rang several times and James was convinced he wasn’t going to pick up. Finally, he did.

“This is Shaw.”
